As the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse approaches, Salem, Illinois, is buzzing with excitement and anticipation for this magnificent celestial event. To help both locals and visitors fully enjoy this rare spectacle, we have put together a detailed list of key preparations. For local residents we are asking that you fill up your gas tanks, get groceries, and be prepared a couple days before the event.  During the last eclipse, some gas stations ran out of gas, food places ran out of food, and pharmacies weren't able to deliver.  We want to make sure everyone has what they need.  If you are restaurant that is typically closed on Mondays, we ask that you reconsider to accommodate all the visitors.
